Before frosting a cake, or serving a roast beef, you have to cool it, in order to maintain its integrity. For this purpose, a cooling rack is to be used. It is available in many different sizes and is usually made of metal. The rack has small metal bars across it, for circulating air not only on top of the cookies or cakes, but also underneath them.
